The 3rd annual Diamondhead Lions Club “Walk for Sight”(and Hearing) is scheduled for Saturday, October 14 at 9:30 AM. Walkers will register at 9:00 AM and start the walk in the green in front of the Harbor House Restaurant.
The walk is the annual fund-raiser for the benefit of the blind and vision impaired, as well as the support of other major charities of the Lions Club, including aiding the hearing impaired, youth programs, Diabetes Awareness, Disaster Relief, food for the hungry, the protection of the environment, and many other community, state, and international needs.
The Diamondhead Lions club conducts vision screening at schools, health fairs, and other events as a service to the local community. Also, the club will use a portion of the funds raised at Walk for Sight III to fund the purchase of new technology hearing test equipment and the training of its use.
In addition to our usual service for the Blind and Vision impaired, this year we will be using the funds collected to acquire equipment to test for levels of hearing impairment. Every walker ($20 registration) will receive a WFS III T-Shirt and a commemorative booklet of the event.
