Waveland Police on Wednesday arrested a local woman who was allegedly trying to sell sexual favors for cash.
Waveland Police Department Investigator Matt Sekinger said Thursday that Rachel Lott, 40, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of prostitution.
According to Sekinger, WPD recently received a complaint about a woman--later identified as Lott-- who had allegedly been offering sexual services for money at a local nightclub.
Lott lives near the nightclub and would meet potential clients at the nightclub and bring them back to her residence, officials said.
Sekinger said employees of the club became suspicious of Lott's activities and called police to make a complaint.
Sekinger said police set up a sting operation and when Lott came to the nightclub on Wednesday, she agreed to sell sexual favors to an undercover officer.
Waveland Assistant Police Chief Mike Prendergast said Thursday that Lott was charging between $200 to $300 for certain services. Lott was arrested without incident and transported to the Hancock County Jail, where she is being held under a $1,000 bond.
In Mississippi, prostitution is a misdemeanor.
