Hancock County sheriff’s deputy Lt. Thomas Bethea was injured in a traffic accident on Hwy. 90 at Waveland on Monday. Bethea was transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
A Hancock County sheriff's deputy on Monday suffered a broken hand during a crash at the corner of Highway 90 and Waveland Avenue, officials said Tuesday.
The accident occurred shortly before noon on Monday.
Apparently, an HCSO cruiser driven by Lt. Thomas Bethea was traveling on Highway 90 and impacted a truck that was attempting to cross the highway north on Waveland Avenue.
Witnesses said the truck had a green light when the crash occurred.
Inside the truck was Kimberly Cantrell and her small child.
Neither were injured, officials said.
Bethea apparently suffered a broken hand, Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said Monday.
He was transported to a local hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.
The Waveland Police Department investigated the crash, since it occurred within Waveland city limits.
