Hawks blank Gators, are undefeated so far in 2017; Rocks, Pirates & Tigers fall in Friday action

The area had all four teams in action Friday night but only one came away with a win. The lone victor was the Hancock Hawks over the Gautier Gators in Kiln. The Rocks stumbled against St. Paul's Episcopal while the Tigers fell to the Long Beach Bearcats. The Pirates dropped their contest with Perry Central.
The Hancock Hawks are undefeated at 3-0 with two shutouts in the early part of the season.
The record matches the previous two years for Hancock at this point before they entered region play.
Hancock was led on offense by Blake Comeaux who carried the ball 27 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Marquis Cherry added 103 yards on two carries while Rondell Womack had 85 yards on nine carries.
Caleb Garcia threw for 94 yards on 8-for-11 passing with an interception. Brooks Rayburn led the receivers with one catch for 35 yards.
On defense, the Hawks were paced by Trenton Ladner with 17 tackles followed by Cameron Blaize with eight stops.
This week the Hawks will remain idle during an off-week. Hancock will return donation on Friday, September 15th against Lakeshore on the road.
The Bay High Tigers (0-3) dropped their game with the Long Beach Bearcats on Friday 37-7.
Sam Sheppard scored the lone touchdown as he collected 45 yards on 10 carries. Jaylan Wilson led all rushers with 94 yards on 20 carries.
On defense, the Tigers were led by Kyre Hodges-Campello with 24 tackles including 13 solos followed by John Russo with 21 tackles including 14 solos.
Zachary West and Jordan Calomese each had nine stops.
The Tigers will host the Lawrence County Cougsrs for Homecoming this Friday. Last week, the Cougsrs defeated Raleigh 32-22.
The Pass Christian Pirates (0-3) fell to Perry Central 21-7 to remain winless on the season.
Dustin Allison three for 50 yards and a touchdown on 10-for-16 passing. Gaines Carter had six receptions for 35 yards including the touchdown reception.
Nate Stewart led the ground attack with 35 yards on 11 carries.
On defense, the Pirates were led by Stewart and Travon Frost with nine stops each followed by Nathan Weatherly with eight.
This Friday the Pirates host West Harrison at McDonald Stadium. Last week the Hurricanes fell to South Jones 42-12.
The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws traveled to Mobile to take on the St. Paul's Episcopal Saints. The Rocks (1-1) fell 35-12.
Jake Greer was 11-for-19 passing for 142 yards and a touchdown while his younger brother, PAT, was 2-for-3 for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Thomas Williams hauled in five passes for 94 yards whike Harrison Brewer caught five balls for 62 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Thriffley added two catches for 46 yards and a touchdown.
On defense the Rocks were led by JD Rutherford with 13 tackles and an interception followed by Lewie Negrotto with nine tackles.
Lee Negrotto finished with eight and Leo Roos had seven stops.
This Friday the Rocks travel to St. Martin to tangle with the Yellow Jackets. Last week, St. Martin was blanked by Crestview of Florida 32-0.
