Hancock County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday seized more than 50 animals from a Kiln residence.
Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said on Thursday that – after the department received several complaints about the animals' poor conditions – the department's animal control officer began monitoring the situation.
Animals seized included horses, a foal, a turkey, goats, chickens, rabbits and dogs, Adam said.
Adam added that the horse, foal and some of the goats were not in good condition upon seizure.
The animals were seized from a home on Dog Patch Road, Adam said.
Bonnie Heffron was charged with animal cruelty and neglect, Adam said.
"When we get complaints, we check and take all the steps to get it right," Adam said.
