Diamond season in the final stretch

The baseball and softball season enters the final two weeks of division play this week. Several area teams control their own destiny as they head into this final stretch of the diamond season.
The Bay High Tigers (11-6, 2-4) dropped their game with East Central on the road on Friday evening 10-1.
East Central got up 7-0 before Bay High got on the board in the fourth inning.
Gage Kiser led the Tigers attack with two hits while Dillon Folse and Addison Goscinski each had a hit. Kiser was the losing pitcher allowing seven hits and fanning two batters.
On Saturday, the Tigers defeated Perry Central on the road 6-5.
Cole Brady, Joe Bell and Dalton Dore all had two hits in the win with Brady getting two RBIs and Bell and Dore each tallying one RBI. Jacob Brady was the winning pitcher moving to 4-1 on the season as he scattered six hits and struck out three batters.
On Wednesday of last week the Hancock Hawks (4-14, 0-6) dropped a game with Harrison Central 7-5. The game was played early to avoid the inclement weather.
Michael Marie and Nick Cuevas had two hits in the game while Cuevas added an RBI off a double and triple. Landon Jordan tallied three hits. Dalton Necaise, Matthew Chighizola and Cameron Necaise all had one hit in the loss. On Saturday, Hancock defeated Picayune by invoking the 'mercy rule' 13-3. The Hawks had a seven-run third inning that gave them the surge for the win.
Clayton Houchin had three hits and an RBI in the win followed by Jordan and Cameron Necaise with two hits and two RBIs each.
Mathen Bourgeois, Chighizola and Cuevas all had one hit and an RBI.
The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws (10-7, 4-2) dropped a game against Vancleave 10-9 on Friday.
Brendan Logan and Sonny Valentine each had two hits while Raegan Correct, Levi Knight and Magruder O'Bannon each had hits.
On Saturday, SSC traveled to Hattiesburg for a double header. The Rocks topped Hattiesburg 10-0 in the first game. Nick Areng threw a one-hitter for the win. Logan, Knight and JD Rutherford all had three hits while Valentine had two hits. Trace Rhodes and Nick Hertz each had a hit.
In the second game, SSC lost to Gulfport 6-5 in nine innings. It marked the sixth time in SSC's seven losses that they came up short by one run.
O'Bannon had three hits while Rutherford had two. Logan, Knight, Hertz, and Rhodes all had one hit.
Pass Christian lost to Biloxi on Saturday 9-8 to fall to 10-8 overall. Game details were not available.
In softball action, Bay High dropped their game with Vancleave 11-3. Game details were not available.
No other softball scores from the weekend were available.
In upcoming baseball action, the Bay High Tigers will travel to Moss Point on Friday and will host Hancock on Saturday. Hancock will host Biloxi on Friday. SSC will travel to Pass Christian on Friday and Harrison Central on Saturday.
In upcoming softball action, the Lady Tigers will travel to Gautier on Friday. The Lady Hawks will host Biloxi on Friday. The Crescents will travel to Mize on Thursday and Richton on Friday.
