Area teams see diamond wins

Despite the chilly weather, the boys and girls of summer are fully entrenched on the diamonds of the area.
The Bay High Tigers (6-2) split with Picayune last week and defeated Resurrection on Saturday.
On Wednesday of last week, the Tigers dropped Picayune 3-1. Gage Kiser, Dillon Folse, Cole Brady and Dalton Dore all had one hit for the Tigers while Dore had an RBI.
On Friday evening, Bay High came up on the short end against Picayune 10-6. Addison Goscinski had two hits while Folse, Cade Compretta and Kiser all had one hit. Kiser had three RBIs while Folse had two in the loss.
On Saturday, the Tigers blanked Resurrection 8-0. Kiser erupted for three hits and three RBIs and Goscinski had two hits and an RBI. Compretta, Folse, Colby Oliver and Dore all had one hit in the win.
The Hancock Hawks (2-8) split a pair of games on Saturday. The Hawks dropped a close game with Enterprise 9-8 despite a hot day at the plate by Clayton Houchin.
In the game, Houchin went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Matthew Chighizola added two hits and an RBI while Michael Marie, Colby McGough, Mathen Bourgeois, Dalton Necaise, Bryce Warren, and Cameron Necaise all had one hit.
The Hawks defeated West Jones 10-5 later on Saturday. Houchin continued his hot streak at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance. Warren added three hits and a RBI while Marie, McGough, Chighizola, and Cameron Necaise all had one hit.
The Pass Christian Pirates (5-4) split a pair if games over the weekend. On Friday, Pass Christian dropped a game with Mooreville 10-5. VJ Swanier. Kyle Stallings, Dalton Freret, Mason Knapp and Jansen Switzer all had one hit. Knapp had two RBIs while Stallings had one.
On Saturday, Pass Christian defeated Baldwyn 6-3 as Swanier was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Nate Weatherly was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Switzer also had two hits while Logan Webb, Freret, Knapp, and Chris Piernas all had one hit.
Over the weekend, St. Stanislaus defeated Madison-Ridgeland Academy 5-3 in the Sumrall Tournament but dropped a game with Columbia Academy 13-5 and Petal 1-0.
In the MRA game, Reagan Corr was the winning pitcher going 6 2/3 innings while Brendan Logan got the save facing one batter. Magruder O'Bannon had two hits and an RBI while Nick Hertz had an RBI.
Against Columbia Academy, Hertz had two hits while Levi Knight had a double.
In the Petal loss, Hertz threw a three-hitter while Trace Rhodes, Sonny Valentine, Knight and Ian Wadsworth all had hits.
In softball action, Pass Christian defeated Pearl 12-8. Morgan Funderburk collected three hits and drove in four runs. She had a grand slam in the game. Amber Funderburk added a three-run homerun while also getting the win fanning 11 batters. Caleigh Ball, Brooke Roach, and Marley Crawford all tallied two hits.
OLA (7-1) topped McComb 17-3 as Dallas Blaker had four hits, five RBIs and a homerun. Alex Necaise also had four hits and Grace Koons had three.
On Friday, OLA stopped Mize 9-1 behind Morgan Ulrich's three hits. Blake fanned 13 batters to get the win while Abby Koons, Blaker, Rylee McCaffrey and Camille Cottone all had two hits.
Pass Christian topped Pascagoula 16-3. Ball had three hits and Hailey Kincaid had two.
Gulfport slipped past Bay High 6-4 on Friday but game details were not available.
In upcoming baseball action, Bay High travels to Vancleave on Friday while Hancock plays Madison Central in Ocean Springs. SSC travels to Moss Point on Friday.
In upcoming softball action, Bay High travels to East Central on Thursday and OLA on Friday. Hancock travels to Ocean Springs on Thursday.
