Area high school teams pick up wins on diamond

Baseball and softball action heated up over the weekend with several teams taking the field.
The Bay High Tigers (4-1) defeated Greene County on Saturday 10-2.
Cade Compretta hit a homerun while Gage Kiser had two hits and two RBIs. Nate Wilson also had two hits and Dalton Dore had one.
Cole Brady got the win on the mound.
Hancock (1-5) dropped three games over the weekend. The Hawks fell to West Harrison on Friday 8-3. Bryce Warren had two hits and two RBIs in the loss while Michael Marie and Matthew Chighizola each had one hit.
On Saturday, the Hawks fell to Long Beach 13-4. Cameron Necaise had three hits and two RBIs while Michael Bourgeois had two hits. Chighizola and Warren each added one hit.
Also on Saturday, the Hawks were shut out by Pearl 10-0. Bourgeois, Nick Cuevas, Dalton Necaise, and Clayton Houchin all had one hit.
The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws blanked Pascagoula 12-0 on Saturday behind a two-hitter thrown by Nick Hertz. He also fanned six batters.
Levi Knight collected three hits and three RBIs while Sonny Valentine added two hits and four RBIs. Brendan Logan and Ian Wadsworth also added two hits while Magruder O'Bannon had two RBIs.
In softball action on Friday evening, OLA (3-1) slipped past Moss Point 3-2. Abby Koons' two-run hit proved to be the difference. Alex Necaise added two hits while Dallas Blaker got the win fanning nine batters.
Pass Christian also slipped by Biloxi 4-3. Amber Funderburk slapped a RBI double to make the difference for the Lady Pirates. Funderburk had two hits in the game and got the win with 11 strikeouts.
Brooke Roach, Marley Crawford, and Caleigh Ball all had one hit.
On Saturday, OLA won 14-1 over Sacred Heart. Necaise had three RBIs while Morgan Ulrich added three hits. Koons and Blaker also had two RBIs. Blaker also had a round tripper and fanned eight batters to get the win.
Hancock (2-2) defeated Bay High on Saturday with Rylee Swilley allowed just one hit and struck out 10. Destiny Hariel had three hits while Brailey Smith had two RBIs.
Pass Christian swept Pearl River Central in two games on Saturday 8-4 and 5-4.
In the first game, Funderburk was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts. Brooke Roach had two homeruns on three hits while Funderburk and Lindsey Jacobsen each had two hits.
In the second game, Funderburk was the winning pitcher again fanning seven batters. Briana Smith had two hits while Funderburk added a two-run homerun.
In upcoming baseball action, Bay High travels to Picayune on Friday while Hancock travels to George County.
SSC travels to Sumrall to play in the Sumrall tournament.
In upcoming softball action, Bay High hosts Gulfport on Friday while Hancock hosts Picayune on Thursday before traveling to Harrison Central for a tournament on Friday and Saturday.
