Baseball begins!

With the untimely end of the high school basketball season, the lazy afternoons at the diamond will soon hit full force.
The season began in earnest with preseason tournaments this past weekend.
The Bay High Tigers swept a pair of games to move to 2-0 on the young season.
The Tigers defeated Forrest County AHS 5-1 as Cole Brady got the win. He allowed just three hits. Gage Kiser and Tyler Strong each tallied two hits.
Later, Bay High downed Lumberton 13-3 as Dalton Dore got the win. Addison Goscinski and Nate Wilson each got two hits.
Hancock (1-1) stopped Picayune 7-4 over the weekend as Bryce Warren got the win on the mound collecting six strikeouts. He also got two hits at the plate with an RBI.
St. Stanislaus swept two games in their own tournament. The Rocks (2-0) defeated St. Patrick 11-1 and Oak Forest Academy 4-1.
Against St. Patrick, Reagan Corr tallied eight strikeouts to get the win. Nick Hertz recorded two hits while Brendan Logan had three RBIs and Jack Putnam had two RBIs.
In the game against Oak Forest Academy, Hertz fanned 10 batters while allowing four hits. Logan had two hits and Levi Knight had two RBIs.
On the softball diamond, Our Lady Academy defeated Moss Point 8-0. Dallas Blaker tallied nine strikeouts and Morgan Ulrich, Blaker, and Carson Cuevas each had two hits.
Pass Christian lost to George County but game details were not available.
In upcoming baseball action, Bay High hosts Greene County on Saturday while Hancock travels to Long Beach to take on the Bearcats and Pearl River County.
The Rocks will host Pascagoula on Saturday.
On the softball diamond, Bay High is set to play Poplarville on March 6th while Hancock will host St. Martin on Tuesday, March 7th.
