Waveland Police on Monday arrested a 37-year-old man who allegedly molested and raped an underage girl.
Waveland Police Chief David Allen said in a press release Tuesday that Nicholas Arnold, 38, was arrested and charged with rape, sexual battery and child molestation.
According to Allen the crimes occurred over a period of time.
Allen said the case is still under investigation, so no further details could be released. He said the case is "very serious" and asked if anyone has information about the case or any other information about Arnold, to call the police department at 228-467-3669.
Arnold was transported to the Hancock County Jail and is being held on a $300,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing in Waveland Municipal Court is pending.
"We are still actively investigating this case," Allen said. "We highly encourage everyone to keep good communications with your children, watch for signs that something may be wrong, and to follow up with professional services if you suspect something."
